Due to it being my birthday the day after we hit Barcelona for OFFF I didn’t actually get to see much of the conference, but from what I did see I would recommend a trip to anyone next year, especially if you are in Europe and can get there on the cheap flights that are everywhere at the moment.
Two of the most significant things were the price and the timetable.
OFFF manage to put on a professional event, at a great venue for only 45 euros. This is pretty amazing when you consider that most other conferences cost $600 – $1000, and really opened up the conference to a lot of people that don’t have that sort of money to spend on a 3 day ticket. How OFFF manage to do it I don’t know!
The other thing is that OFFF starts up around 12pm and finish’s around 10pm. This makes the whole conference a more pleaseant experience. When you go to a conference you meet new people and inevitably end up being sociable and going out with them. No-one then wants to get up first thing at 8am in the morning to get to a session at 9am after getting to bed late the night before. Even if you do make the sessions your not in the perfect state of mind to take everything in and I’ve seen this time and time again.

Agreed on the timetable, and the fact there was a two and a half hour break just two hours in allowed for some mooching around the city too (which Aral, Andrea & I intended to do every morning… but failed to get up in time).
Good to have met up and had a drink (or few) with ya Tink, see you soon.
Dan
