No Roadmap for Flash Media Encoder for OSX

If you haven’t heard of Adobe’s Flash Media Encoder its a product that captures audio and video and enables you to stream it live to FMS or FVSS and/or create a hard copy of the FLV on your local disc

We use the encoder at LFPUG to stream live video pretty sucessfull most of te time, but it only runs on a PC and Windows (yep it won’t even run on Windows in Parallels on your Mac). More and more people in the Flash community are turning to Mac and we now actually rely on 2 people at the user group to be able to kick out the stream for us.

I spoke to Kevin Towes (who’s blog I can’t find) at FiTC who is the Adobe Technical Product Manager for Flash Media Server and he told me there were no plans at this point in time for a Mac version of the encoder. Adobe are really pushing the cross platform thing and yet with this product, its just not seen as important.

I was told by Kevin that I should send him an email with a request, as the more people that request something the more likely it is to happen. With this in mind I thought I’d make this post and try and get a bit of a petition together so that Adobe can see how important it is for Mac users to have acess to this product (I hope this doesn’t backfire).

So if you a Mac user and you want to be able to use this product please leave a comment below so I can show Adobe how important it is that this product is cross platform.

PC and video? Do those mix?

Seriously, Adobe should focus on insuring that products work across platforms. With MacIntel it should be possible to at least having everything work on those computers (even if PPC’s get left behind).

  2. Yes please Adobe… Flash Media Encoder for OS X would be great so tha wu could use Mac only capture cards for live streaming with FMS.

  3. That’s odd.
Especially after Adobe’s announcement about getting back to the mac the Video Production S/W.
We love Adobe’s software but we need a good OS too..

  4. Tommes says:

hi, has anyone seen the livebroadcaster from onlinelib?

it´s streaming live video for flash in real http or rtmp, and its support
    2 CH stereo audio encoding.

    demo: http://onlinelib.de/live or web: http://onlinelib.de

maybe tink can bring some more lights on this.

love your blog, visit every week.

    best
    tommes

  5. Erki Esken says:

I guess the best way is if a lot of people go and ask for it via their wish form ( http://www.adobe.com/go/wish ). Note that they still list FMS as Flash Communication Server there (seesh!), and that’s the best match under which to send OSX support plead for FME.

  6. I’ve just bought a Mac… and I was expecting to run FME via Parallels. You’re saying I can’t? That sucks big time – add me to the list, we need FME for the Mac!

  7. Jacob says:

Flash Media Encoder for OS X !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  8. Jonathan says:

I am asking for it, in todays world how can they seriously expect to not have a mac version.

  9. Meekish says:

“…he told me there were no plans at this point in time for a Mac version of the encoder”

Wow, that sounds pretty dense. As if the Mac Pro weren’t the most amazing piece of video production hardware known to mankind.

  10. Adam says:

I agree that some sort of broadcaster for osx needs to be created. I really like the interface and logging that FME has over the on2 solution. If adobe wont make it, maybe one of the apple developers can make it. With so many small apps for osx being made all the time, I am sure it’s possible. With the camera support available in OSX, it would be nice to be able to utilize this live flash video.

    Wishlist for an osx encoder.
    Data rate readout
    Archiving Streams to disk
    FPS and Size scaling
    Dynamic data rate scaling

Dynamic data rate scaling is defiantly possible with flash. I read it in live docs the other day. Maybe it would be automatic, or maybe it would be something you control with a griffin powermate. It would be super cool to get an interface like the one in Wirecast. I don’t know why varasoft keeps investing in Qt live anyway.

It would also be nice if someone made an rtmp stream recorder for osx, like FLV Recorder or Replay Media Catcher. Something like wiretap pro would be key

  11. Phontsolo says:

I find it very hard to believe that i have to ask Adobe for a Mac version of the Flash Media Encoder to beginning with. Shouldn’t this be obvious? Get with the program Adobe!!

  12. hugh says:

kevin’s personal site is under construction, it seems, tink.

    http://www.kevintowes.ca/

  13. Greg says:

What the hell adobe……why isn’t there a version for Mac OSX??

  14. Peter says:

I have been looking all over the place trying to find a way to either use WME or FME on my Mac. This parallels Adobe’s mistake in the late 80′s when they invested in the NeXT version of Illustrator and produced a poor version for Windows, obviously misreading the future of the computer world. Adobe! Don’t misread the future of Digital Video on PC’s! Invest in the future and in YOUR clients best interests and MAKE A MAC VERSION OF FME!

  15. Tink says:

You can run FME on Windows under Bootcamp, I’ve not tested VMware.

  16. Brad Belyeu says:

We need this application for business purposes to work under 10.4. LAME.

  17. Xopher says:

Seriously we need FME on OS X, I’m a broadcaster over at justin.tv video is flawless from a windows machine using FME but with osx it is all choppy and lagged like no other since it has to be streamed to the jtv servers for encoding and back out.

  18. Nicole says:

what the hell? thanks adobe for leaving us in the dark!

  19. jamie says:

A video encoder/broadcaster for os x would be a God send, the pc version works great, i wish it ran on mac as well.

  20. Stefan says:

Good news, FME works under Parallels after all. I don’t seem to be the only one who has overlooked the little icon in Parallels at the bottom corner of the window which looks like an USB icon. Click on that and then from the flyout choose isight. That will connect your isight cam to the Parallels instance (I know that Windows itself was able to pick it up without this but this step seems to be needed in our case).
Once I did that I was able to start FME and could use my isight with it. Ok it’s not strictly running in OSX but it works without booting into Win. remember who told you first ;-)

  21. Tracie says:

ok, not good. Now what am I supposed to do? Adobe…get it together. Our parents always taught us, that we should never do things half-ass. If you are going to build it, build it to work for the people who use it, please. Love your products, use them everyday. But when I need something and it is for a PeeCee?

  22. Jing says:

Yes, Adobe should make FME cross platform. I don’t see a reason not to. It’s a great program but it lowers it when its not cross platform. I very much wish it would run on Mac aswell!!! Don’t favor Windows for that kind of stuff… Please make a Mac version!

  23. Thomas says:

I came across this blog looking for a Live Flash Encoder for OS X… I still don’t know if this means that there is no live encoders for the mac at all, but before I forget I’ll leave a message here, I’d also love to see this on solid os x!

  24. Tink says:

As Stefan posted above, you can use FME under Parallels on your Mac.

  25. elijah says:

YES!!!! please release an FME for Macs. We need this to work! I heavily rely on FME EVERYDAY! and i don’t like using windows. period.

  26. Yes please. FMS & FME, to the Mac!

I’m working on a project where I have to use FMS, and thought it would be a good idea to develop locally before uploading everything to the server. But since I have recently switched to Mac (I love it!), I can’t do that. I have to develop on our development server. Which makes it a bit more tedious.

  27. Stefan says:

You can use FME in Parallels – check a previous comment of mine.
To use FMS on a Mac you can try this:
    http://www.flashcomguru.com/index.cfm/2007/12/12/Configuring-FMS-on-OSX-using-Parallels

    Cheers

    Stefan

  28. Very useful information for me. Thank you.

  29. Christopher says:

Hey guys, I found this software VX30 Java and Flash Video Encoder 1.99, let me know if this is equal to what you guys need

  30. DonDophamine says:

Yes, it’s obious that more people turn into Mac, especially those people, who more likely to use Encoder. Macs wont crash at important moments as much as windows systems. Unless there is no aggreement between Adobe and Mr.Gates, I do not see any logycal reason why they ignore Mac platform in such a thing

  31. Joel Halfwassen says:

I am STUNNED, I say again, STUNNED that Adobe is not developing the Encoder for Mac! Why is that? Where is our software Adobe! Those of us in the Mac publishing business want YOUR product and you are not delivering!

  32. Christina Dfouni says:

What’s wrong with them? We need it!!!

  33. Paul Gullett says:

Add me to the list of people requiring it.

  34. Tim says:

Anybody have a good recommendation for a capture card for macbook pro? I’m wanting to do live flash streaming (in boot camp if I have to)

  35. Luke says:

Another Adobe/Mac user who would love to see this come to the mac. Get with it Adobe.

  36. Tino Klumpen says:

Adobe should embrace OSX. Shame shame shame.
So please Mr. Adobe, give us FME on OSX asap.

  37. isxylands says:

We need Flash Media Encoder for OS X !
We also need Flash Media Server for OS X !

  38. Chris says:

I need a Flash Media Encoder for OS X badly, what is your problem Adobe??????!!!!!!!!!

  39. Vasilios Hatciliamis says:

Adobe, please make Flash live encoder for mac

  40. andy van wart says:

Adobe ought to step up on their cross-platform compatibility. It’s just smart business.
Has anyone here used Quicktime Broadcaster? It will encode h.264 in realtime.

  41. chris mueller says:

Please, please, please, make a mac version. Live Encodes on my PC don’t come out right, and using video encoder takes forever. I got me a new bad ass power mac, and I want to us it.

  42. Gabe Strong says:

I own a small video production company. Recently I have been getting requests to do live internet broadcasts of events. I recently finished up a 7 month contract with the state live broadcasting meetings. Add me to the list of people who are asking for this to be a cross platform program for MAC! I would buy the program, come on Adobe, money talks and you’ve got a market here…..

  43. Ryan Ritchey says:

Running a video-driven Apple website, using a PC for FME just isn’t a realistic option. Please bring FME to the Mac, Adobe!

  44. Marcel Fahle says:

Hey, I recently switched completely to the Mac and I want the FME there, too. Sure, it runs fine on Parallels, but that’s crap.
For this stream out of my office ( http://slot3.com/demos/live ) I’m using my last windows computer for broadcasting, but hey, it’s frickin’ windows. this morning I came back to the office and that bloody machine made a reboot or so at night. So broadcasting stopped at some point last night, because Vista thought “Oh, I wanna reboot”. That’s a pain in the ass. Want the Mac version of FME!

  45. Manu Dasa says:

We have invested in Adobe Flash Streaming Media Server for our live webcast delivery from temples around the world. Most of our creative / video team use macs, and it is is sorely disappointing that Adobe has not yet created an upload solution for macs.

As other users have mentioned, video and Mac are synonymous in the professional video world… I am typing this on a MacBook and have a copy of Adobe Flash Media Encoder 2 running on VMWare Fusion but it doesn’t recognize DV firewire devices (!!!).

So all of us here are eagerly waiting for a Mac version of Flash Media Encoder 2 / 3.

    Sincerely,
    Manu Dasa
    http://www.Krishna.com

  46. Corey Ellis says:

We are currently moving from Windows Media Server to Flash Media Server. While this workplace is primarily a Windows environment, all personnel involved in our web/creative/video projects are using macs (some running Parallels). We would welcome FME for mac.

    Cheers,
    Corey Ellis

  47. Ian says:

Please. I need this program for mac!

  48. Walt Ribeiro says:

    FME for MAC!!!

Count me in. I’m gonna Twitter this. Digg this and whatever else i can do. People are screaming for this feature

  49. maury says:

I need the flash encoder for my MacBook Pro. Please Adobe, make it!

  50. Rey Ortega says:

They really need to get FME, FMS and FVSS all to Mac. I manage FMS servers for a College and other clients, but I produce everthing on my MacBook Pro. Just today I consulted a Church with an all mac platform, but now they need to buy a windows machine just to run FVSS and FME. Running parallels uses processing that I need for live, high quality, video streams. Please, back up your supporters, adobe.

  51. James says:

Yes, I agree completely! Both Flash and Java, languages that are supposed to be completely cross-platform only support live video for the PC. Its ridiculous. Please change this Adobe! Please!

  52. this is bullshit.

    apple for life, FTW !

get on it adobe, what the f***?

  53. Shan says:

Add me to this list of people waiting for FME for the mac.

  54. Martn says:

I’ll need FME for my study work on OSX!
Otherwise I am waiting for Wowza to be able to record h264 so I will use such as QuicktimeBroadcaster.
BTW: The FME Beta 3 will be able to record h264 live stream, what I need.

Don’t forget us – OSX is rising!

  55. Marcus says:

    OSX OSX!!!! come on guys!!!

  56. John says:

Please straighten out my life, and write the Adobe Media Player for Mac.

I strongly support Adobe (bought all their products) and I would BUY this for Mac.

  57. Bill Vanderslack says:

PLEASE ADOBE – this would make my life easier as I am currently having to lug around 2 laptops to my live video events.

  58. Adobe, this is very important to have for the Mac platform!

  59. Jeff says:

Working on a big project right now using fms, but unable to work on it at home because of this. Unbelievable.

    Jeff.

  60. I just can’t believe this…
It has been more than one full year since my last comment in this post, and nothing happened yet ! Come on Adobe ! You claim to be a leader in video editing and multimedia authoring with your products, but you are not even able to give your customers a Mac version of FME ?!!!

Do you realize that you are loosing customers everyday by acting like this ? Video on demand was the 2005′s revolution, but live broadcast is the next few years one, and others companies like Wowza for instance undertood it better that you did ! Bye bye FMS + crappy FME… and hello to Wowza Media Server + QuickTime Broadacaster or Wirecast :)

  61. Mike Azzato says:

We need a Mac OSX Flash media encoder! Please make it soon!

  62. Chris Elder says:

I’d find an OSX/Intel version of FME really useful too.

  63. Chaduke says:

I was using FME this week to do a live broadcast on a macbook with bootcamp. I kept getting the infinite hourglass, the program kept locking up completely and I couldn’t get rid of it. I was hoping they finally made a version for OSX so I can avoid Windows but no dice, however I noticed there’s a Linux version. Interesting.

  64. @ Chaduke:
Nope… unfortunantly there is no Linux either. The Linux download link is the auth addin to be placed server side, and which allows Flash Media Live Encoder to connect as a specific client to the server.

  65. Antonio says:

i can’t believe it, i turn to mac for my job and adobe don’t make a osx version of this software… how many desktop i need to buy with different platform?

  66. Chaduke says:

    @ Vincent
Yes, I noticed that later on. I did however broadcast successfully this past week. I thought it had something to do with running bootcamp on an intel mac and my hardware having compatibility problems but that wasn’t the case. It turned out to be a problem connecting to the servers at ustream.tv Now I’m using my own Flash Media Server and it works fine.

  67. Ahoy All!

Yeah we NEED the flash media Encoder on the MAC!

    Come on Adobe!

    WTF!

Unless someone can sort out a work around?

I’m using Mogulus to broadcast and would like send it a pre compressed stream so I can feel the full benefit of these new online browser only broadcasting services…..but hey ho!

    Cheers!

  68. Erik F says:

Please! I would really want FME for osx without running crossover, parallel etc! Come on Adobe, I find it really strange you don’t release this for osx.

  69. Jay says:

ARG! Why would Adobe think that people even try to do video tasks on Windows! What an outrage. Last time I used windows to make a movie, or stream anything was when I was thirteen and making dumb movies in windows movie maker. Please PLEASE! Adobe, make a OS X compliant version of the encoder. I beg thee.

  70. steve says:

Yes Please FME for Mac OSX

  71. Abhay says:

FME for Mac would make this Christmas for me so sublime!

  72. Don’t do the same error of Bill Gates!!! please do it for MacOSX!
    thanks from italy

  73. Kedar Misani says:

I started with streaming videos for jeet.tv and I would really very much welcome if the Flash Encoder would be available for Mac users as most of the people in the TV, broadcast, video world are working with Mac!

    Hope for a soon solution

    Kedar Misani

  74. Esumti says:

FME for Linux would be even better.
    Please?!

  75. Shawn says:

I’d really like to see FME for OS X! I’m jealous of the streams from my Windows-using friends.

  76. Issac says:

    Please do an OSX version

  77. Ferdinand says:

yep, we do need here in this side of the world. please make a mac version

  78. New Jersey says:

Please adobe, we are power uses here, we use extensive multimedia applications and can’t rely on windows, after all it is a bloated operating system, can’t understand why they use registry as most uninstall codes messes up with operating system. Porting FME should be really straightforwad as Flash and other adope products are already ported. I am a C++ Software Engineer / Codewarrior User and I see no big deal doing this, please, make us happy after all, we are professionals here. That being said, thanks for the blog owner for such great idea and initiative,

  79. Adobe isn’t doing anything to secure itself in the K-12 educational market by not offering Flash Media Encoder on the Mac. It looks like we’ll just stick with Quicktime, which works on BOTH platforms. With students producing content on a Mac is makes little sense to tell them they have to transfer their work to a pee-cee to work with Flash. We already have an Xserve in place with Quicktime Broadcaster and QTPro is an inexpensive option for those who need access to it.

All I have to say to Adobe is don’t let the door slap you on the rear on your way out.

  80. davidp says:

I would love to have it available for the Intel Macs. Right now I’m forced to run it on a Dell laptop much to my chagrin. Please reconsider. I currently own the complete Adobe Production Premium and think that Adobe should consider the Flash Media Encoder an important piece for those of us who produce video for a living.

  81. Angel says:

Así es, me he cambiado a Mac después de usar por varios años PC.; considero conveniente el “Flash Media Encoder” para Mac. O será posible que otra empresa lo pueda desarrollar.

  82. Spud says:

I have a feeling that Adobe may have an exclusivity agreement with Microsoft and that this software will not be made available for macs.
    I hope I’m wrong.

  83. Chaduke says:

The windows version works fine on my MacBook with Bootcamp running WinXP.

  84. Umbarger says:

i want a version that runs natively in macs

  85. HooDy says:

The really annoying thing is that I have “Flash Video Converter” that came bundled with my CS3. Ok, that’s not annoying. What’s annoying is that it will not let me encode live video off of my Canopus. What gives? My solution was to buy a $400 Dell Laptop with Windows Vista and download the free version of FME! All considered, its not actually a terrible investment.. I’d rather drop the Dell in a puddle of water than my MBL! But seriously, how difficult would it have been to allow the flash encoder in CS3 to capture data from the firewire port and let me convert it to FLV? I mean, its not like this suite was cheap or anything??? Fine, you won’t make FME for Mac.. Whatever, we have to buy CS3 or CS4.. We’ve learned to cope with paying more for functionality, but, c’mon guys… Really? You have to have a better solution than go buy a cheap PC laptop and stream to your hearts content!

Course, on the other side, I can tell you guys that by using this less than ideal solution, I have an incredible cost effective platform that’s perfect for mobile applications and I don’t even mind if an 800Lb gorilla jumps on my pelican cases! As for PC doing video. well, it really isn’t. Its just capturing a file from an HDV vis the onboard 1394 from a Canopus advc110 (don’t actually need this but for $150 it speeds up the process nicely) and creates a nice little flash file. I’ve banged mine out to resolutions over 10000kbps without any real lagging.. It ain’t good for editing but for capturing, well.. its cheaper than waiting.. Oh and, Thanks Adobe! you guys rock!!

  86. Craig Shipp says:

I would like to have FME to use with my iMac on UStream.tv

  87. shekhar says:

I tried fastvdo SmartCast/SmartCapture,and it fulfilled my needs, not putting much burden on my pocket.

  88. Electrofrog says:

@shekhar SmartCast can only streams content using RTP/UDP protocol and is not compatible with FMS which usues RTMP.
It only works with Wowza Media Server or Darwin Streaming Server.

  89. Al says:

I need the Flash Media Encoder badly

  90. martin says:

    hi,

found an rtmp broadcaster for osx – but page is only in german.

its more then an broadcaster, its seems to be a mobile tv studio.

it also support silverlight and quicktime broadcasting. we get a demoversion soon.

    maybe that can help someone.

  91. Edwin says:

    PLEASE BRING FME FOR MAC

  92. Oliver says:

Please make the live video encoder for OSX, I cant bring myself to buy a pc to do live encoding.

  93. jason elwood says:

Please create a version of Adobe flash media encoder for Mac. it would be so helpful for our weekly broadcasts, and theres nobody out there that has as good of a product so adobe would benefit by leading that market at the creation of it.

  94. esumti says:

Adobe are releasing the RTMP protocol any day now: (http://www.adobe.com/devnet/rtmp/
This should help the situation as more solutions should start to appear.

  95. Kent says:

The first post here is from May 16, 2007. It is now May 21, 2009. Did anyone think it would be TWO YEARS LATER that we would still be asking Adobe to make this available on MAC??????????!!!!!!!!!

Every video pro I know works on a MAC for content creation. I am shocked this isn’t available for MAC.

PLEASE make a MAC version of the Adobe Flash Media Live Encoder!!!!!!!!

I am now looking to other companies for a solution. If you haven’t gotten the message in TWO YEARS, I guess you just don’t care about serving a very large group of MAC users.

I will post my solution to this gross omission soon.

  96. Tink says:

    Hi Kent

Unfortunately in terms of revenue, I can only presume that 96 response over 2 years doesn’t warrant Adobe making a OSX version.

  97. Electrofrog says:

I was fed up with waiting for FMLE OS X, and finally made the move to Wowza Media Server Pro and I don’t regret it. It allows the use of live video mixers such as Wirecast via RTP and transforms it into RTMP. I had some issues for the serverside code at first, but since it is Java, the syntax is very close to AS3 and the move was easy. For $995 ( quarter of the price of FMS 3.5 interactive ) it definitely worth it. Last but not least, there is an free IDE based on Eclipse for developing WMSP code…

  98. casey says:

I have a solution. If you run vmware fusion, you can run windows inside it. Then run your FME. That is how I do it. :)

  99. Tom says:

We would really welcome a Mac native FLV Live encoder.. I hope that this comment (signature) will help support your case.

  100. Yoshi says:

I really want Flash Media Encoder for Mac OSX too.
It can be “Intel Only”, I just want it on OSX.

I really hope Adobe brings this to OSX too…

  101. Joel Tainio says:

Mac is the number one platform for creative folks. All the applications from Adobe SHOULD absolutely be avaible for Mac OS X.

  102. screwfilms says:

I came across this blog, and was kinda pissed of. . .

. .. then as I scrolled down, i started to gain some hope.

But by the end, my hopes were dashed.

I feel cheated: I’ve lost a job because of the fact that Adobe won’t support a Mac client. That’s fucked up.

I feel actively FUCKED by Adobe. I will never use a Mac program for the rest of my career.

  103. Why does Adobe always leave us Mac users in the dust. We have been faithfully supporting Adobe for years with all of their product line. I really want FME for Mac!

  104. Dave says:

    Dear Adobe,

Flash Media Live Encoder for Linux Please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I’ve managed to get it to work within a Windoze guest in Virtualbox but it’s ugly solution with virtualized hardware drivers – not as good as native.

  105. Matt Gardner says:

i can’t believe adobe are doing this?!!

With streaming video on the web so important now MAC users are stuffed.

  106. casey says:

yes, this is a must. I am actually running it through vmware now, with a windows virtual desktop, but it chunks and stalls on me here and there.

  107. mike says:

i am trying Flash Media Live Encoder with crossover 8 it installes but has issues with Video:direct x9 and Audio: coreaudio wavein 0

  108. Ernani says:

Over 2 years now and no single feedback from our folks at adobe.

Anyways, soon it should be a flexible tool on the open source community, the Red5 server team is making huge progresses on the development of that open source RTMP enabled streaming server and a nice H.264 encoder should appear soon.

Well, heil to the open source world.

    Cheers,

    Ernani

  109. chris says:

I have been looking every where for the solution to this, i love my mac, and i’m never going to use windows ever again, i think it was the worse thing man kind has invented. All the way for MAC!!! and get us this media flash hosting going. or i’ll just purchase wowza. adobe is dumb.

  110. Chris says:

    Any solutions out there?

  111. @Chris Move to Wowza Media Server as I did, you won’t regret it. It supports RTP natively, which enables you to use any program (and there is a lot) to publish your stream from Mac OS X.

  112. Hello,
I think Adobe is doing this on purpose.. the relation Adobe/Apple is a love/hate relation.. they are competence and they need each other at same time.

I guess this is an Adobe revenge becasue with FCP; Apple get seriously into the sotware business and quick of the mac platform adobe premiere.

Now Adobe is kinda enjoying that Quicktime Streaming is dead and wanna make us suffer.

This industry works like this. Is what you learn at the aisles of the trade shows.

    Cheers!

PD, I have worked for Adobe and Apple.

  113. As far as I have heard there may be a pre-release program for FMLE for Mac underway right now. So you can chill out now ;-)

  114. Zolcsi says:

    Hey folks,

I’m already testing the mac version of FMLE, and it works like a charm for me!
I’m streaming to a Flash Media Server, and so far everything is working perfectly. So I think soon this might be available for download.
    Let’s hope so :)

    ENOUGH BULLSHIT
    DON’T BE MORONS, ADOBE
    TIME TO START MOVING IT

  117. Oyabin says:

No worry… Adobe already announced that Flash Media Live Encoder 3.1 for MAC will release soon. Read Adobe Blog at http://blogs.adobe.com/flashmedia/2009/11/flash_media_live_encoder_31_fo.html

I try to stream in HQ on a website called blogtv and to do this i need FME but cant as im on a mac its so frustrating!!!!
I though apple and adobe were in partnership now anyway.

  120. jeff says:

Still waiting for this to work with a macbookpro. why wouldn’t they make this for mac, seems to be the most popular computer out

  121. Sheila says:

I have been searching for ways to stream live video and have a reliable broadcast. I was told FME was the way to go but I can not find a mace version. I love adobe and their products are great but not being able to stream and not having software from reliable and trusted companies such as Adobe has really turned me off, I am looking at alternative software now. I can’t believe they would leave faithful mac users out of this video broadcasting loop!

  122. Zolcsi says:

Hold on guys, FMLE 3.1 for OSX Prerelease program was closed a few days ago, I think soon they will go public with a beta or RC.

  123. Ron says:

I just discovered this problem, it’s unbelievable that stupid adobe haven’t solved this problem yet. I recommend people to use wowsa or wirecast instead. Fuck stupid nazi adobe !

  124. D Saha says:

Mac users really need the Flash Media Live Encoder. We have clients who have either Windows or Mac and we want to be able to serve them both for content deliver networks (CDN)

  125. FMLEUser says:

Hold your breaths, the time has come. A few months back Adobe announced FMLE on MAC OS X and a few days back pre-release program for Flash Media Live Encoder 3.1 comes to end. So FMLE 3.1 will be released anytime in near future.
