Bedale Group

Wednesday, March 21st, 2007

Last night I made my way down to the inaugural Bedale Group meeting.

Unfortunately I didn’t manage to drag my arse down their until 9:30pm so it was kind of winding down. That said I did manage to sit and have a few drinks and a rant with Rich and James which was interesting, followed by a pasty, which was tastey.

If you’re a software or services company that specialises in Adobe platforms you might want to keep your eye out for the next meeting and make your way down. This could be a very interesting regular meeting to share your ideas, worries and any problems our coming up against.

Apollo Alpha

Monday, March 19th, 2007

This morning see’s an the long awaited alpha release of Apollo on labs.

Apollo is the code name for a cross-operating system runtime being developed by Adobe that allows developers to leverage their existing web development skills (Flash, Flex, HTML, JavaScript, Ajax) to build and deploy rich Internet applications (RIAs) to the desktop.

Also of interest if your looking to play with Apollo is the free PDF download of ‘Apollo for Adobe Flex Developers Pocket Guide’.

Old Telewest Customer?

Friday, March 9th, 2007

If you an old Telewest customer you will now know that they, along with ntl were bought out by Virgin and along with other previous Virgin products they have put together Virgin Media.

Looking at my last bill (which is direct debit) I noticed that without any warning they had increase the price of my service. I gave them a call yesterday to have a moan about this and they apologized and said I should have got a letter informing me about the price increase, but went on to say they could reduce the price if I wanted (stupid question).

They ended up increase my net connection from 4MB to 10MB (apparently rising to 20MB soon) and knocking a tenner off the original amount I was paying Telewest, bargain!

So if you were a Telewest customer, and are now a Virgin Media cusomer, I would suggest giving them a call to see if you can get your service bumped up, and the price reduced.
